ok, i have a school debate. And the topic is "competetive sports should not be allowed in schools." AND guess what? my group agrees with that! we have to, was picked random. i feel like we’re going to lose! can anyone help me? like what should be the first speaker topic, second speaker and third speaker? i need help….. I REALLY DONT WANT TO LOSE THIS!

- Injuries. A study author from the Ohio State University College of Medicine stated that "Knee injuries accounted for nearly 45 percent of all sports injury-related surgeries in our study. Knee surgeries are often costly procedures that can require extensive and expensive post-surgery rehabilitation and can increase risk for early onset osteoarthritis. Without effective interventions, the burden of knee surgeries and rehabilitation will continue to escalate as the number of high school athletes continues to grow."
Dr. Boden, associate professor at the Uniform Services University of the Health Science in Bethesda, Md, stated that "The incidence of injury is higher at the high school level compared to the college level, which may indicate that the younger brain is more susceptible to a brain injury. Many of the players who had a severe head injury were playing with minor neurological symptoms from a previous head injury such as a concussion." He says that although catastrophic head injuries in football have declined since special regulations went into effect, players are still being returned to the field with symptoms of a prior head injury. "Football is a very macho sport. Athletes are taught to play through pain," concludes Dr. Boden. "But concussions need to be taken seriously. Many of them are probably being overlooked at the high school level."
- Odds against a scholarship. A study of numbers provided by the National High School Federation and the NCAA shows that the participants in boys wrestling have the longest odds of earning an athletic scholarship. Boys soccer is a close second. In those two sports, the number of Division I scholarships offered in a given year accounts for less than half a percent of high school participants.
The sport with the highest percentage of high school participants earning at least a partial athletic scholarship is girls golf at 1.6 percent.
Football ranks second, with 1.4 percent of its high school participants in a given year earning a scholarship at a Division I university.
